Dress Code
DRESS for SUCCESS no studded belts, wristbands all chains are banned from campus
There appears to be a definite relationship between appropriate dress and good work habits and proper school behavior. Recognizing the relationship between personal dress and personal attitude, students are encouraged to dress in a manner that demonstrates pride both in themselves and in their school.

• Students are expected to be neat, clean and appropriately attired for school.

• Hair shall be clean and neatly groomed and not disruptive to the educational process.

• Shoes appropriate for school activities must be worn at all times. Footwear standards are maintained for the prevention of accidents and injury. High-heeled shoes, backless sandals or toeless shoes are not permitted on campus.

• Pants must be manufactured “waist appropriate” in size with no more than one inch allowance in waist size for growth. Example: If a student has a waist size of 28”, 1” for growth is recommended, i.e., size 29”. Sagging pants are prohibited. Pants are too big if they cannot stay up without a belt. Pants may not drag on the top of shoes or touch the ground.

• No long parka-type coats will be allowed. Hoods on jackets or sweatshirts may not be worn unless it is raining.

• No clothing, article of clothing, or manner of wearing clothes which is inappropriately revealing, distracting or disruptive to the educational program shall be worn on campus or at school activities. Clothes shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments at all times. See-through or fishnet fabrics, halter tops, off the shoulder or low cut tops, bare midriffs and excessively short skirts and shorts are prohibited. Boxer underwear may not be visible.

• No student shall wear any article of clothing, jewelry, or accessory which, in the opinion of the school administration, poses a threat to the physical well-being and safety of the student or others (for example chains, spiked wrist bands/collars, long belts, unbuckled overalls, metal studded belts or wrist bands.

• No clothing or any article of clothing related to a group or gang that may provoke others to act violently or to be intimidated by fear of violence, shall be worn on campus or at any school activity. Gang-related clothing may vary and may change from year to year. Consequently, the principal, or her designee, shall have the authority to identify and disallow such gang attire.

• Clothing and jewelry shall be safe and free of writing, pictures or any other insignia which are crude, vulgar, profane or sexually suggestive or which advocate racial, ethnic or religious prejudice or the use of drugs or alcohol.

• Adams Eagle hats are permitted to be worn on campus. Bandannas or head coverings of any type may not be worn on the Adams campus.

Students choosing not to follow the above guidelines will be issued a detention and be required to change into the physical education uniform for the remainder of the school day. Students who willfully and continuously violate the dress code may be subject to Disciplinary Action and inappropriate attire will be confiscated and held in the office until parents retrieve it.
